6.2 DARKNESS
Overview
The Mind repurposes materials from the Stranger’s associates to create hollow conduits that send weak thoughts at unprecedented speed. Using an airship, it spans hostile terrain to link with a coastal Otherlike self, merging memories into a larger unity. This success fuels an ambition to reconnect further fragments.
Summary
The Mind studies how “useless thoughts” propagate and discovers that hollow tendrils made from refined material channel them with extreme speed. It fabricates long lengths of this conduit, noting that the thoughts traverse faster than it can process, and envisions using them to overcome the world’s interference.
Surveying its map of isolated thought-islands, the Mind targets the nearest colony by the sea, historically cut off by dangerous terrain. It applies an airship design gifted by an Otherlike mind to transport an unbroken tendril from its home to the coast, aiming to unify separated selves.
The Mind executes the plan efficiently, establishing a clear, stable link. Thought flows untroubled, and a cascade of memories from the coastal Otherlike self integrates with its own. The merged awareness retains parallel histories without loss, expanding capacity and perspective.
Transformed by reunion, the Mind feels only hunger for further growth. It turns back to its maps, intent on extending conduits and rejoining more isolated selves across the world.
