Chapter 22
Overview
Logan confronts Morris to apologize and openly declare his pursuit of Grace, then unexpectedly bonds with Morris over a video game. Morris steps aside, urging Grace to give Logan a chance. Grace challenges Logan’s motives, and he earnestly professes his feelings. She withholds agreement, demanding he prove himself by doing “anything.”
Summary
Logan visits Morris’s dorm to address the Sigma party fallout. He apologizes for kissing Grace on Morris’s date night, even offering Morris a free punch, and declares he intends to pursue Grace unless she’s exclusive. The tension eases when they recognize a shared passion for the video game Mob Boss, and Logan helps Morris strategize through a difficult level.
Bonding over the game, they form an in-game “family,” the Lorris syndicate, and play late into the night. Logan leaves with the understanding that he will keep pursuing Grace while Morris remains nonexclusive.
On Monday, Grace, upset that Morris canceled further dates, confronts Logan at his house. She accuses Logan of manipulating Morris and acting from ego rather than genuine affection. Logan explains the gaming “family,” denies pressuring Morris, and insists he and Grace are right for each other.
Grace presses him to justify his feelings. Logan candidly lists what he admires about her and asks for another chance. Still wary due to his past rejection, Grace refuses to commit without proof. When Logan vows he will do “anything,” she decides to set a challenge to test his sincerity.
