Chapter 28
Overview
Grace meets Ramona and tentatively rebuilds their friendship, noticing Ramona’s shaken confidence and feeling conflicted about trust. Afterward, Logan invites Grace to spend a low-pressure weekend together while his roommates are away. They reaffirm boundaries, plan logistics around Grace’s Sunday dinner with her father, and Grace signals openness to sex.
Summary
Grace meets Ramona at the Coffee Hut for the first time since their awkward reunion. They trade stories, including Grace’s gleeful account of Logan introducing her as his girlfriend to Piper, and Grace notes that Maya kept her distance. Despite the easy banter, Grace observes Ramona’s dulled confidence and trashier presentation, which worries her.
Grace and Ramona catch up on family news and laugh together, but when Grace leaves for class, she remains unsure whether keeping emotional distance makes her a bad friend. She decides to continue rebuilding trust slowly.
On the way to class, Logan calls. Acknowledging yesterday’s boundary talk after his jealous drop-in at her study session, Logan invites Grace to spend the weekend at his place while the house is empty. He stresses there are no expectations, focusing on time together rather than sex, which reassures Grace.
Grace happily agrees, asks for mint chocolate chip ice cream, and arranges a Sunday evening drop-off for dinner with her father. Before hanging up, Grace tells Logan not to throw out the condoms, signaling her comfort and possible readiness to take the next step.
