Chapter 33
Overview
Grace, worried after a call from her father, confronts Logan and finds him spiraling about his post-graduation future caring for his alcoholic dad. Logan assumes he’ll lose Grace, prompting her furious exit after confessing she loves him. Realizing his mistake too late, Logan seeks to fix things, with friends urging a new grand gesture.
Summary
After finishing her midterm, Grace rushes to Logan’s house, prompted by her father’s warning and Logan’s apologetic text about missing dinner. Tucker lets her in, noting Logan’s sour mood. Grace finds Logan physically fine but emotionally distant and insists he explain what happened during his visit home.
Logan erupts, saying he has no future after graduation because he plans to move back to care for his alcoholic father, like his brother has. Convinced this life will make him miserable and cost him his relationship, Logan claims Grace will eventually leave. Grace, angered, counters that love endures—citing Jeff and Kylie—and that he clearly doesn’t know her if he doubts her commitment.
When Logan refuses to continue the conversation, Grace ends it for the moment. She storms out, declaring, “I love you, you stupid jackass,” and leaves with Hannah. The shock snaps Logan into action, but he’s too late to catch her.
Logan calls and texts; Grace replies she needs time to process his “stupidity.” Garrett and Tucker check on him, confirm Grace’s love, and rib him while pushing him to make things right. Rejecting a poem reprise, they urge a fresh grand gesture. Logan accepts he let fear speak, regrets doubting Grace, and resolves to fix the damage.
