47. Theon

Feeling the bond flare, Theon searches Arius House and finds Tessa on his balcony, changed and crackling with power. She speaks in riddling “stories” about beginnings and endings, Arius’s betrayal, and forbidden creations, hinting at the Everlasting War and a destined reckoning. She confronts Theon for learning her lineage and hiding it, and for believing the Augury’s manipulations.

Tension turns physical as Tessa takes control, using the Marks to siphon Theon’s darkness while denying him agency. She reveals the Source Marks work both ways and restrains him with his own magic. After taking what she wants, she refuses to grant him release and demands truth.

Tessa recounts a second “story” of abandonment, exploitation, brief hope, and ultimate betrayal—clearly her own. She produces a scion and dagger, then deliberately draws the final Source Mark on herself and slices their hands to force the bond’s completion. Overpowering Theon’s magic, she binds their powers together until he yields.

As Theon reels, Tessa inks the Achaz symbol onto his left hand, declaring that if she bears his Mark, he will bear hers; his power now answers to her. She reveals she fulfilled her Bargain, erasing the mark from her skin, while Theon’s remains until he rules Arius. She claims the right to decide contact and access and invokes the Guardian element to compel his protection.

Theon warns her of war and confesses love, but Tessa rejects his plea, accusing him of control and breaking rather than loving. Declaring she will correct the realm’s balance and that their fates are to destroy each other, she departs through a flash of light, leaving Theon weakened and on his knees.
