4. Tessa

Tessa, numbed and cold after the Tribunal’s decision, waits with Theon and Luka at the Arius manor. Valter arrives with Eviana and presses Theon about the outcome. Theon argues the terms weren’t ideal and seeks time to plan, while Luka defends the temporary allowance as a safeguard against precedent.

Valter insists on finding a nonlethal way to sever the Source bond and on keeping Tessa bound to their kingdom. He demands Theon report any discovery of Tessa’s lineage to him first and orders a discreet end to the bond if she proves Legacy. Theon warns severing would strengthen Lord Jove’s case to remove Tessa to Achaz, but Valter counters with a contingency: an immediate Match union.

Valter then decrees the Match would be to Luka, arguing offspring would reinforce Sargon power. He taunts that Theon and Luka “share everything,” and reveals Theon already has a blood-signed Match contract. Valter further suggests Theon begin preparing Katya to become his next Source. Tessa panics at being treated as a tool for alliances and breeding, and Theon calms her with a firm command.

To underscore his authority, Valter threatens consequences “short of death” and suddenly stabs Theon. Luka subdues Eviana as Theon absorbs the blow, shadow-magic swallowing the dagger. Bleeding but standing, Theon accepts the warning.

When Theon moves to take Tessa to the training arenas to safely remove her bands and test control, Valter forbids public training to keep her powers hidden. Theon suppresses his fury and complies. Luka escorts Tessa from the room as her magic roils and the imposed bands and plans tighten around her future.
