Overview
Elluin gives birth to Kyzari but is drugged and confronted by Tyroth, who confirms Kaan’s paternity through runes. Tyroth murders Elluin with Bulder’s stone and affixes the diadem to the newborn.
Slátra slays the pursuing Moltenmaws, retrieves Elluin’s body, and sacrifices her own essence to preserve Elluin’s life-spark before turning to stone.
Summary
Elluin labors as Slátra urges her on. The child is born without breath, but Elluin’s singing and Slátra’s presence rouse the infant, whom Elluin names Kyzari Neván Vaegor. While Elluin bleeds and nurses, a maid brings tinctures that secretly drug her.
Moltenmaws attack outside, separating Slátra from the chamber. Tyroth arrives with a Bloodlace, orders the room cleared, and has the runes read from Kyzari’s blood, which point toward Kaan. Satisfied, Tyroth brands Elluin a traitor.
Invoking Bulder, Tyroth impales Elluin with stone as he rips Kyzari from her arms. He murders the Bloodlace to silence her and wrenches the diadem from Elluin, affixing it to Kyzari’s brow despite the newborn’s screams. Elluin dies without telling Kyzari she is loved.
Slátra, having slain the Moltenmaws, tears into the palace, forced to spare Tyroth while he holds Kyzari. She recovers Elluin’s body and ascends skyward to the dragons’ resting place.
Among her stony kin, Slátra curls around Elluin, unbinds a silver soul-thread, and plants it in Elluin’s chest—hoping it will take root and let Elluin return to her young. Slátra exhales a final frost-kiss upon Elluin’s brow and turns to stone.
