Overview
Raeve halts her bloodlust after collapsing the arena with molten champions, but Arkyn escapes on an Elding Bird. As the Moonplume moons begin to fall, Raeve chooses to seek Kyzari while Kaan vows to end Arkyn. Kaan mounts the ailing Rygun and launches north in pursuit.
Summary
Amid molten ruin, Kaan restrains Raeve as she continues commanding magma champions. He pleads for her to stop, pulling her back from bloodlust until the constructs melt and she steadies, the blue returning to her eyes.
An Elding Bird bursts from the basin bearing Arkyn, alive and fleeing. Rygun challenges, but Arkyn drives the creature skyward rather than face them. As the Elding Bird vanishes north toward The Fade, the ground convulses and a Moonplume moon breaks loose, signaling the world’s unraveling and renewing Kaan’s fear for Kyzari.
Kaan and Raeve confront an impossible choice: pursue Arkyn now or save their daughter. Raeve rejects vengeance and chooses Kyzari, declaring her love and commanding Kaan to survive to tell Kyzari himself. She sprints away to reach their child as more tremors shudder through the wounded mountain.
Left reeling and injured, Kaan nearly falls before Rygun steadies him. Kaan senses Rygun’s internal wall and asks to be let back in, then salvages weapons and painfully mounts. Noting Rygun’s chilling scales despite lava heat, Kaan resolves to finish Arkyn swiftly so they can return to their family.
Rygun powers into the smog-choked, embered sky. Kaan, clutching the dragon’s spines, sets their course: chase Arkyn toward the sun and end him.
