Chapter 93
Overview
Raeve and Rygun erupt from the molten crater and take up the Elding Bird’s fading trail. When Rygun senses Arkyn’s beast heading toward Netheryn, he rejects Raeve’s commands and gives chase. The dragon’s vengeful autonomy overrides Raeve’s control, steering their course toward confrontation and personal reckoning.
Summary
Raeve and Rygun surge out of the molten crater into a world wracked by upheaval. They immediately seize on the dying ember-trail of the Elding Bird, tracking it north toward The Burn, then west, then sharply south.
As Rygun reorients, Raeve spots Arkyn’s beast cutting through the chaos toward distant Netheryn. Raeve issues urgent commands—shouted and mind-pushed—to hold position and find another way, attempting to regain control of their course.
Rygun rejects Raeve’s orders with a furious roar and drives south, pursuing the Elding Bird’s sputtering wake and the ruddy glimmer of Arkyn’s mount. Realizing she cannot stop him, Raeve accepts that Rygun is hunting to avenge her and her family, and that his resolve will set their path toward inevitable clash.
