Summary
Walking home at night, Nora and Charlie trade teasing barbs until Nora insists on a wooded shortcut. They discover a moonlit swimming hole. Spurred by Nora’s list and a desire to surprise Charlie, she strips to her underwear and dives in. Charlie, protesting the cold, eventually joins her.
Their banter about small-town rites and New York anonymity gives way to growing attraction. Nora ups the skinny-dipping challenge, and touch turns into kissing. They press close against the rocks, mapping each other’s responses, momentum building toward sex.
As they teeter on the edge, Charlie admits things are complicated for him and suggests they should talk; Nora urges him to continue. Before they decide, Nora’s phone rings.
