Dante wakes on a couch in a Skids trap house belonging to Tug, having survived the previous night by self-medicating with oxy and cheap malt liquor after the horrors of Getty's death. He recalls having unprotected sex with Raynell's friend Dulsi, who eagerly hoped to bear a 'Carruthers baby,' reducing him in his own mind to a name and a means of escape from poverty. Raynell, related to Torrent and Tranquil, was the connection through which he and Getty originally entered their disastrous deal with the Black Baron Boys.

Tug, wired on meth and playing video games, casually informs Dante that the streets believe Getty was a confidential informant. Police flooded Getty's house the previous night, kicking in the door, and Jamir Paige overheard officers at the station complaining about a missing CI. The rumor that Getty was snitching is spreading. Dante panics internally but smoothly lies, claiming Getty had told him he was planning to flee to Georgia or Alabama, planting a cover story.

Realizing it is already one o'clock, Dante sees missed calls from Roman and Cassidy. He calls Roman first to coordinate. Roman is on his way to the hospital and reminds Dante that today is the deadline for the shop's license fee that Neveah is paying. Dante refuses to come to the hospital, unable to face their comatose father whose condition he blames himself for. He insists they meet in person at the shop at three to discuss something he won't say over the phone. Roman, seething, warns him not to wait until they're told to pull the plug, and hangs up.
