Act Three - The Angel’s Game — Chapter 21
Overview
Gravely injured, David Martín takes refuge at Pedro Vidal’s Villa Helius. Vidal shelters him and summons a doctor, who stitches his wounds and sedates him. Under sedation, Martín dreams of Cristina trapped beneath ice and seized by a dark force, intensifying his fear that malevolent powers control recent tragedies.
Summary
Bleeding and disoriented after recent violence, David Martín hails a taxi from the Raval to Pedralbes, instinctively heading to Villa Helius. At the door he collapses, recognizes Pedro Vidal, and begs for help, admitting he has nowhere else to go.
Vidal brings Martín inside, settles him in the master bedroom, and calls a doctor. The physician removes glass shards, cleans and stitches Martín’s many cuts, and reassures him before administering a sedative. Vidal stays close, offering quiet support as Martín drifts into drug-induced sleep.
Sedated, Martín dreams of Cristina beneath ice, reaching for him as a shadowy, winged darkness coils around her and drags her away. The vision reinforces Martín’s terror that an encroaching, possibly supernatural force underlies her disappearance and the mounting deaths around him.
