Fionn spends a restless night crocheting, fixating on Rose and his own darkness. He reflects on his father Callum’s abuse and how a final brawl, quietly aided by Fionn, ended in the man’s death. He admits he feels no remorse for helping Rose dispose of Eric Donovan’s body and fears for Rose more than he fears her.

In the morning, Rose is gone. Fionn finds her guest room transformed with photos, mementos, and numerous plants, including poisonous monkshood. A postcard thanking “Sparrow” suggests Rose has aided others before. Uneasy, he heads to Sandra’s Suture Sisters crochet group, only to find Rose already there.

Among the women, gossip breaks that Eric Donovan is missing after buying beer and saying he’d go fishing. Fionn and Rose hide their panic. Rose distracts the room—and Fionn—by joking about crocheting a sex swing, prompting bawdy advice and briefly easing tension.

Walking home, Rose asks why Fionn helped her; he answers, “Because you asked me to.” They weigh the risks if their role in Eric’s death is exposed. Rose admits she once “supplied the means” to stop abusers and is now taking a more active role. Fionn reassures her presence is welcome despite his solitude.

Rose intuits Fionn’s past heartbreak. He confides about Claire Peller, a college love who rejected his proposal, prompting his move to Hartford. He acknowledges Rose has disrupted his quiet life in a way he doesn’t regret. As they part, Fionn contemplates abandoning the facade of a perfect, penitent life and facing the darker truths within him.
