Haunted

Rose, performing tarot in a clown-themed tent at Saugus Frightfair, draws Knight of Swords, Death, and Four of Swords, unsettling omens that leave her anxious. As she closes for the night, Matthew Cranwell—disguised as a clown—arrives, reveals he has tracked her past and suspects her Sparrow deeds, and menaces her with a knife, threatening to implicate Fionn.

Rose kills the lights and fights Cranwell, escapes the tent, and flees through the fair. Intending to end the threat, she lures him into the haunted house’s staff corridors and strikes him with a broken chair seat. During the struggle, Cranwell’s eye protrudes grotesquely; he arms himself again and pursues her into the public maze.

On the second floor, Fionn finds Rose and immediately senses danger. Cranwell attacks; Rose kicks his weapon away and urges Fionn forward. In a gore-staged room, Fionn drives Cranwell’s own knife into his abdomen, cuts upward, and, unmoved by pleas, hoists Cranwell onto a meat hook, leaving him bleeding out and unconscious.

Hearing visitors approach, Rose disguises the scene: she covers Cranwell’s head, directs Fionn under a sheet like a prop, and radios the manager to close the attraction under the pretense of cleanup. When the building quiets, Rose confronts her own culpability and apologizes, fearing she is only chaos.

Fionn, haunted yet resolute, crosses to her; their kiss affirms a deepened, perilous union. Together, they have eliminated Cranwell and tightened their shared secret, escalating consequences for both.
