Overview
One year later, Fionn channels his darkness in an underground fight, defeating Nate and stitching his own wound. Matthew Cranwell confronts him about Eric, prompting Fionn to sever him as a patient. Fionn flies to Boston to see Rose, glimpsing her new life and deciding he wants to deepen their relationship by ending their rules.
Summary
Fionn, still obsessed with Rose after months apart, enters an underground fight and decisively knocks out Nate. He stitches his own brow in a grimy bathroom, admitting he fights to feed the darkness that pulls him toward Rose.
Matthew Cranwell appears and needles Fionn about Eric’s disappearance and Rose’s involvement. Fionn deflects, notes Cranwell’s new prosthetic eye and family collapse, and pointedly drops Cranwell as a patient to avoid further entanglement.
Agitated yet resolute, Fionn returns home, fantasizes about Rose, then flies to Boston the next day. He rushes to Lachlan’s apartment, where Rose—dressed for the Saugus Frightfair as a disturbing, sexy clown—greets him.
They trade updates: no news on Eric, town rumors persist about Humboldt Lake, and Naomi is happily dating a nurse. Rose heads to work, and Fionn offers to pick her up later so they can talk.
Left alone, Fionn recognizes he no longer wants pretense or distance. Seeing Rose’s life in Boston crystallizes his desire to move back and ask to dissolve their rules, committing to a fuller relationship.
