Hurdles

One month later, Fionn arrives at the Silveria Circus grounds to see Rose, worried when she doesn’t answer his texts. He enters her RV and, misunderstanding, believes she has company—only to find a shirtless man, Chad, running hard on the treadmill Fionn gifted her. Rose hastily explains Barbara the raccoon’s presence and blocks Fionn from leaving.

Rose then admits she laced Chad’s churros with a heavy dose of amphetamines because he deals to students and abuses his girlfriend. Her plan to let the drugs finish him is failing, so Fionn moves Chad outside to run laps. High and overconfident, Chad sprints toward a picket fence, trips on a rock, and is gruesomely impaled, dying instantly.

As they assess the body, Fionn challenges Rose’s risky behavior. She breaks and explains her motive: she is the Sparrow, a clandestine helper for abused women, shaped by her own violent upbringing. She carries guilt over a past mistake marked by a V.R. tattoo. Fionn embraces her and decides to help.

Fionn instructs Rose to return to the RV, turn off the lights, and stay silent while he calls emergency services. He plans to present the scene as a tragic accident, protecting Rose and her mission.
