88. The Nature of Absolution

At the Geller Estate, Rufus meets resistant Geller family representatives over the joint training facility. Identifying their stalling tactics, Rufus asserts Remore Academy authority and warns he will proceed without Geller involvement unless real collaborators meet him the next day.

As Rufus departs, Jason initiates a voice call through the new Party Interface, briefly updating Rufus on their recent bronze-rank battle and teasing loot before cutting the connection, testing the feature’s range and playfully dodging reprimand.

Back at the Magic Society, Clive guides Jason and Humphrey through cataloguing the sealed boxes from the flooded complex. Using cleaning magic, Clive opens them to reveal well-preserved skill books: multiple volumes of Jason’s martial art, The Way of the Reaper (forms one and three), hinting at broader origins that Clive promises to research.

In a ritual room, Jason performs an awakening for Humphrey. Humphrey gains the dragon essence ability Spartoi, finally synergising with his storage space to equip summons, and completing his slate of dragon abilities, boosting his recovery progression.

Jason then absorbs an Awakening Stone of Absolution. Despite its “redemption” theme, he awakens the doom ability Blade of Doom, conjuring Ruin, an unholy dagger that applies Vulnerable and refreshes wounds, making healing harder. Humphrey and Clive question the irony and implications, while Jason wryly embraces the weapon’s utility.
