110. Help Arrives
Overview
Emir drives a rapid rescue through the desert and into an island-chained astral space, arriving after a brutal withdrawal. On the battlefield, Danielle stabilises the line but Farrah is killed and Rufus loses an arm before being healed. The enemy leadership withdraws, and survivors regroup on a beach. Emir’s arrival restores order and morale, enabling organised recoveries of the missing amid hard losses.
Summary
Emir pushes sand skimmers across the desert at dangerous speeds to reach the astral-space aperture, intent on arriving in time. Entering the astral space on foot, his fastest specialists race across calm waters between tropical islands, guided by tracking stones from the scattered expedition.
Amid the retreat, Humphrey fights out alongside Phoebe and Rick Geller’s team through swarming, blood-stained constructs. Elsewhere, Farrah is isolated and low on mana after holding back waves of enemies while Rufus and Gary are engaged with a silver-rank foe.
As enemy leaders join the fray, Danielle personally reinforces the buckling line, duelling a grotesque construct-flesh silver-ranker and driving it back. Scanning the field, she sees Rufus lose an arm to another silver-ranker and teleports to aid Farrah—but arrives an instant too late as four metal arms spear Farrah, killing her.
Danielle unleashes time-empowered attacks with her dimensional blade, outpacing and carving the silver-ranker. She baits it into striking, then reflects the intended injuries back onto it, forcing a retreat. With Farrah dead and enemies pressing, Danielle prioritises holding the line and securing the field, recovering Farrah’s mangled body for casketing.
On a beachhead with water at their backs, survivors regroup. The silver-rank healer reattaches Rufus’s arm and mends his injuries; Gary staggers but lives, while Rufus is shattered emotionally. Thalia Mercer confronts Neil and Dustin over Thadwick’s absence before Danielle restores order. Humphrey returns with Phoebe and Rick; Henry Geller is dead and Jonah’s fate is unknown.
Emir arrives too late to join the battle but in time to steady the camp and morale. With tracking stones, he and Danielle separate the missing from the dead and dispatch silver-backed retrieval teams. Emir consoles Rufus, framing Farrah’s death as a warrior’s end while the survivors brace for the next steps.
