9. Escape

Jason regains consciousness cramped in a cellar cage, injured and nauseous, noting other prisoners: Rufus, two women (including Anisa), and a massive, furred man, Gary. He confirms he has no suppression collar and can still use limited essence abilities.

While feigning unconsciousness, Jason overhears a refined woman and Dougall discuss Landemere’s death from a failed astral summoning, the resulting monster infestation, and plans to use the captives for a blood feast. Jason receives system notifications completing a prior quest and gaining coins and a shirt.

After they leave, Rufus advises using silver spirit coins. Jason consumes one, wastes the brief power surge, then uses a second to burst his cage door, suffering subsequent weakness. A new quest, Escape!, triggers with an optional objective to rescue the other four prisoners.

To avoid fighting while weakened, Jason produces a large key ring he previously acquired and starts with Gary’s reinforced cage. As Jason fumbles with the keys, Dougall returns with a shovel, spots the attempt, and strikes. Jason is knocked unconscious again before freeing anyone else.
