101. Fantasy World Goodness

Jason and Clive head to the Adventure Society’s private dock, passing the prison tower and memorial grounds. Inside the reception lounge they find a rare concentration of city elites, including Elspeth Arella, the Duke of Greenstone, and temple representatives. Gabrielle Pellin approaches and warns Jason—on behalf of her goddess of Knowledge—not to reveal fundamental truths like gravity, promising a “gift” if he stays silent.

Out at sea, a massive cloud-formed vessel approaches: Emir Bahadir’s ship. It docks, a cloud gangway forms, and Emir arrives. He briefly greets the official party, then teleports to Jason, Gabrielle, and the transfixed Clive, who is absorbed in studying the ship’s magic. Emir introduces them to Constance, his indispensable aide, and invites them to be welcome around his staff.

Emir produces a dimensional flask showing cloud miniatures—a ship, estate, vehicle, and palace—and transfers the active focus from the ship to the palace. He returns to the reception while Jason, Clive, and Gabrielle remain to watch the ship transform over minutes into a floating cloud palace. Clive observes powerful security and structural magic he cannot penetrate.

Recognizing the palace’s gold-rank defenses and systems, Clive shifts from awe to analysis. Connecting this security profile with the ongoing thefts they are investigating, he concludes what the thief’s real objective must be and tells Jason he now knows what the thief is after.
