Overview
Jason recovers from his iron-rank advancement, learns to sense auras, and discusses ranks and longevity with Rufus and Farrah. He uses multiple awakening stones, gaining draining and cleansing abilities plus shadow-teleportation. Against Rufus and Farrah’s caution—but encouraged by Gary—Jason absorbs a legendary Apocalypse stone, prioritizing power despite unknown risks.
Summary
Jason wakes after his violent impurity purge and, still feeling unclean, showers again. Outside with Rufus, Farrah, and later Gary, he learns that his new ability to sense their dangerous presence is aura perception unlocked at iron rank. They compare timekeeping and discuss ranks, diamond adventurers, and extended lifespans.
Focusing on progress, Jason begins using his awakening stones. He awakens Leech Bite and Feast of Blood from the blood essence, then Feast of Absolution and Sin Eater from the sin essence, understanding them as health-draining and affliction-cleansing tools. Hungry from the process, he eats his first spirit coin, experiencing a powerful surge.
With an Awakening Stone of Adventure, Jason gains Path of Shadows, a low-cost, no-cooldown teleport that moves him between visible shadows. Though less useful in open desert, it excites him as a true utility power.
Finally, Jason confronts an Awakening Stone of the Apocalypse. Rufus and Farrah caution him to sell it due to risk and potential restrictions, while Gary urges him to seize power. Choosing strength, Jason impulsively absorbs the stone despite warnings, ending the chapter before the new ability is revealed.
