XIX JASON

Overview

Jason and Piper are led to Boreas’s throne room under guard, testing their resolve and trust. Jason wrestles with anger at Hera and longing for answers about his sister Thalia, while Piper grounds him. The escort reveals herself as Khione, goddess of snow, heightening the danger before their audience with Boreas.

Summary

Jason and Piper are escorted up an icy staircase by Zethes toward Boreas. Jason worries he led his friends into a trap and takes Piper’s hand for reassurance, but the ice princess notices and their hands frost-burn, warning that warmth is dangerous here.

As they walk, Jason churns over his missing past, fixating on the photo of his sister Thalia and resenting Hera for stealing his memories yet feeling compelled to rescue her to learn the truth. He appreciates Piper’s support and the fading Aphrodite glamour, recognizing their supposed past was a Mist trick even as he wishes it were real.

They reach carved oaken doors to the throne room. Challenged by Piper, the ice princess reveals herself as Khione, goddess of snow and daughter of Boreas, and promises to translate and plead for them—if they behave. She opens the doors with a blast of cold blue light and leads them in to face Boreas.
