Overview
At the Wolf House, Khione reveals she orchestrated the gods’ distrust, Aeolus’s kill order, Festus’s fall, and the party’s snowbound trials. She plans to frame Greeks and Romans against each other and topple Boreas and Aeolus as Porphyrion rises. Leo rejects her offer, counters with fire, and Khione orders the monsters to kill the demigods.
Summary
Reeling from Mount Diablo, Jason faces Khione at the Wolf House with Thalia frozen, Hera imprisoned, and monsters encircling them. Jason’s memories surge back as he realizes how desperate their position is and how crucial the site is to their enemies.
Khione boasts that Thalia and the Hunters will be sport for Lycaon’s wolves and admits to whispering fears into the gods: pushing Zeus to close Olympus and convincing Aeolus to target demigods. She explains sparing them in Quebec due to Boreas’s guest-right, yet claims she will soon depose him and unleash chaotic storms in service to Gaea.
Khione confirms she sabotaged Festus over Detroit and fed Enceladus their movements, then lured Lycaon to ensure Jason would die at the Wolf House. She intends Jason’s blood to taint the ground and frame Greeks for the deaths of two Camp Half-Blood demigods, igniting Greek-Roman conflict. She dreams of freezing ancient places and destroying Greece to sever the gods’ roots.
Khione tempts Leo to abandon his fate and serve her. Leo laughs off the offer, swears vengeance for Festus, and demonstrates his fire, melting her sleet barrage. Enraged, Khione seals Hera’s earthen prison in ice to silence her and orders the assembled wolves and storm spirits to kill the demigods as Porphyrion nears rebirth.
Outmatched and armed only with an icy plank, Jason braces alongside Piper and Leo. With Hera fading and Porphyrion rising, Khione unleashes the attack; Leo’s flames flare as the battle begins.
