XLVII LEO
Overview
Leo pilots a commandeered helicopter toward the Wolf House as Jason reveals its history, linking Jack London and the site’s sacred, dangerous power. The trio confirms Gaea’s plan to entomb Hera and raise Porphyrion there. Leo wrestles with grief while Piper fears what Jason’s returning memories might change, and they fly into a storm.
Summary
At sunset, Leo pilots a helicopter north over the Richmond Bridge, toggling between instinctive control and panic while recalling his Aunt Rosa’s doubts. Piper rides copilot; Jason kneels between them, explaining that their destination, the Wolf House in Sonoma Valley, was built by Jack London, a son of Hermes, and later destroyed by fire.
Jason shares fragmented memories: the Wolf House is sacred and dangerous ground where his own journey began. If Gaea claims it, she can use its power on the solstice to entomb Hera and raise the giant king Porphyrion, hastening the earth goddess’s awakening. Leo pushes the chopper toward a bank of dark clouds, trying not to overthink the stakes.
As Jason dozes, Leo reflects on his losses, especially his mother, and forces himself to focus on the task. He reassures Piper that her father is safe with Coach Hedge. Leo notices Piper’s strengthened presence since the quest began.
Piper admits she’s worried about Jason—what his returning memories might mean for who he really is. Leo insists their bond will hold. With tension rising and the storm ahead, he steadies the helicopter as they enter the clouds, committed to reaching the Wolf House despite growing danger.
