LIII LEO
Overview
Leo reveals Bunker Nine, exposing his fire powers and a forgotten Hephaestus war facility tied to a demigod Civil War. Discovering a blueprint that matches Leo’s childhood drawing, the group commits to building the flying warship Argo II with Festus’s head. Chiron confirms their quest leads to Greece to confront the giants.
Summary
At a limestone cliff, Leo opens a massive stone door with fire, revealing to the Hephaestus cabin and Chiron that he is a fire user. He leads them into Bunker Nine, a long-sealed Hephaestus command center. On the central table rests Festus’s battered head, which Hephaestus retrieved.
Leo vows not to forget Festus and hints the dragon will fly with them again. As Nyssa examines a trove of advanced designs, the group notices an old map of Camp Half-Blood labeled 1864, showing fortifications and war plans. Chiron explains that demigods fought a parallel Civil War, two opposing groups, and that the gods later enforced separation to prevent another catastrophe, making the bunker a risky place that stirs old feuds.
Leo produces a childhood crayon drawing of a ship that exactly matches a centuries-old blueprint for a flying trireme. The notes describe flight capability and heavy armaments; the masthead is a dragon—clearly Festus. Leo declares he will build this ship, naming it the Argo II, and asks for help.
Piper connects the plan to their larger mission: confronting Porphyrion before he destroys the gods at their roots. Chiron confirms Jason, Piper, and Leo are among the Seven in the Great Prophecy, and that they must face the giants in their homeland to stop Gaea’s rise. Leo concludes they must sail to the original Mount Olympus—Greece.
