Overview
Leo crash-lands the team at the Wolf House amid a malevolent ice storm and a besieged battlefield. Inside, they find Hera imprisoned and fueling Porphyrion’s rebirth at sundown. Thalia reveals Jason’s origin here with Lupa. As Leo and Piper prepare to break the cage, Khione attacks, freezing Thalia and surrounding them with monsters.
Summary
Leo pilots the helicopter into a conscious, vicious ice storm over Sonoma and force-lands near the Wolf House as a giant ice boulder destroys their chopper. All around, a battle rages in sleet and mist. Thalia reaches them, felling an Earthborn with her last arrow, and reports her Hunters are barely holding a perimeter against Earthborn, Lycaon’s wolves, and returning storm spirits.
Inside the ruins, crossing the threshold triggers Jason’s memories. Thalia reveals their mother brought them here years ago and abandoned Jason, telling Thalia he was dead; Jason recalls being given to Lupa at Hera’s insistence. Explosions outside press them onward to Hera.
In the courtyard’s empty pool, they find two spires: a massive root-stone cocoon where Porphyrion is reforming, and a smaller, tightly woven cage holding Hera in her Tía Callida guise. Hera explains Gaea is using Hera’s essence to regrow Porphyrion and that at sundown he will awaken, demand Hera marry him, or consume her, triggering Gaea’s rise.
Hera insists only Leo can break the cage, citing godly imprisonment rules and his ingenuity. Leo recalls “the forge and dove shall break the cage” and asks Piper’s help, but they need time. Before they can act, storm-horse venti, wolves, and Earthborn surge into the courtyard.
The wolves present an ice statue of Thalia, revealing she has been frozen. Jason surges with anger, but Khione, the snow goddess from Quebec, steps from the mist, greeting them and denying them the time Leo needs as the monsters close in and sundown nears.
