LVI JASON
Overview
At the Camp Half-Blood council, Jason, Piper, and Leo reveal the existence of a Roman demigod camp and that Romans aided in the Titan War. The campers resolve to build the Argo II and seek Roman alliance to face Gaea and the Doors of Death. Annabeth volunteers and deduces Percy was exchanged and likely resides at the Roman camp without memories.
Summary
In the Big House rec room, the senior counselors gather informally as Jason, Piper, and Leo recount their quest and Hera’s recent message. Annabeth, tense for news about Percy, presses for details. Jason confirms Hera’s claim of another demigod camp—Roman, not Greek—where he himself came from.
The council debates the Greek–Roman divide. Chiron explains the ancient rivalry and reveals the Romans fought alongside the Greeks in the Titan War, destroying Mount Othrys in California. Jason recalls defeating the Titan Krios, and Annabeth infers the Roman camp must lie near San Francisco, though its location is magically hidden.
Rachel states they must build Leo’s Argo II, sail first to the Roman camp, and then to Greece to confront the giants. Clarisse warns a warship could provoke Romans, but Jason argues an alliance is essential: seven heroes of mixed camps will be needed. They interpret the Great Prophecy’s “Doors of Death” as Gaea releasing Underworld foes, requiring a united force to close them—though the line could also foretell conflict between camps.
Annabeth volunteers to join the voyage. Jason reveals Hera orchestrated an exchange of leaders between camps. Together, Jason and Annabeth conclude the other half of the exchange is Percy Jackson—now likely at the Roman camp, stripped of his memories and in potential danger if his origins are discovered.
