Summary
Prince Inan enters the palace fearing King Saran’s wrath for failing to capture a fugitive who escaped Lagos with help from a silver-eyed divîner. Queen Nehanda rushes to him, alarmed by rumors of assassins, then publicly rebukes the onlookers and drags Inan before the king, insisting he abandon guard duties.
In the throne room, Inan notes Admiral Kaea’s promotion and fresh blood on the floor, sensing Saran’s foul mood. Questioned about the fugitive, Inan admits he lacks her identity but expects leads once injured checkpoint guards recover. He asks to continue the hunt with his team, while the Queen demands Saran end the risk to the heir.
Saran dismisses the Queen and confronts Inan in private. Inan braces for violence but, instead, Saran expresses confidence—on the condition that Inan hunts alone and calls off his men. The mission’s stakes escalate when Saran reveals the truth: “It’s Amari.”
The revelation transforms Inan’s failure into a family crisis and binds his duty to a personal conflict—pursuing his own sister to protect the throne and the realm.
