Chapter 32: Electric Energy

Overview

At the symposium, Alexis, drunk on ambrosia, pushes boundaries with Kharon and Augustus, provoking jealousy, a fierce public kiss, and a clear vow of monogamy and delayed consummation. Reporters needle them about viral brutality and Medusa; Kharon’s devotion and Augustus’s denial raise stakes. Power dynamics sharpen as Zeus glowers and Artemis basks.

Summary

During the guarded symposium, Alexis observes Olympians and creatures mingling while Artemis, blood-spattered from the arena, holds court under the hostile gaze of Zeus. Flirtations from an Olympian heir and a pink-toga woman spark Kharon’s protective ire. Kharon declares he is monogamous and wholly devoted, then kisses Alexis hard; Augustus reins them in, confessing he would kill to shield her.

Reporters descend, frightening Fluffy Jr. Alexis defends him while Kharon and Augustus physically shield her. They press Kharon about his viral ear sacrifice and suggest Chthonic involvement in Medusa’s escape. Kharon vows he’d do worse for Alexis; Augustus warns against rumors and denies involvement, forcing the reporters to retreat.

When Augustus helps Alexis up, their bond flares palpably. Ambrosia-fueled heat draws the trio into a shadowed booth, hands lingering on Alexis’s thighs. Alexis blurts a request for both to have sex with her; Kharon refuses, saying she isn’t ready, and Augustus insists they’ll only make love when she’s sober. Kharon promises future dominance, but both hold the line.

Drunken banter spirals into a tussle over Alexis’s “Dear Diary” calculator and provocative jokes about selling organs. Kharon nearly lifts the table in anger before Augustus checks him. The scene ends with Kharon retreating into silence while desire, possessiveness, and public scrutiny leave the trio on edge.
