Chapter 46: Interrogations

Overview

Imprisoned beneath the coliseum, Alexis survives Zeus’s interrogation, confirms his plot with Vyco, and escapes after Nyx kills the guards. She crashes the symposium, broadcasts Zeus admitting guilt, and ignites mass revolt. Zeus flees as prophecy is proclaimed. Alexis, Augustus, and Kharon rush to Helen’s room, fearing Patro and Achilles have arrived first.

Summary

Alexis awakens chained in a crypt, facing Zeus. She goads him about Vyco and the federation attack, deducing Zeus orchestrated it to frame Medusa and have infant Alexis killed. Zeus, amused, effectively confirms her accusations. Patro, under threat, truth-tests her answers about Medusa and declares she knows nothing, sparing Alexis immediate punishment before Zeus departs for the symposium, leaving guards to “loosen her tongue.”

The guards beat Alexis until Nyx attacks, killing them. Using her blood-forged staff, Alexis frees herself and leaps to the symposium, finding Augustus and Kharon bound and bruised. They break their restraints and fell the nearby guards. Alexis makes them promise not to interfere, then slips into the crowd to execute her plan.

Guided by siren-marked instructions from Lena, Alexis patches her calculator into the sound system and plays her recorded interrogation with Zeus. As the room hears Zeus’s laughter and admission, Alexis reveals her scar and holds her blood-rod as proof. Shock ripples through the Houses; Athena condemns the dishonor, Poseidon brands Zeus a betrayer, and Hades and Persephone unleash Chthonic power, driving the crowd to its knees.

Fate declares a prophecy fulfilled as chaos mounts. With leaders closing in, Zeus panics and leaps away, abandoning the symposium and exposing his guilt before all Sparta. Amid the stampede, Alexis spots Patro with Achilles and realizes their destination. She reunites with Augustus and Kharon, and the trio leap to the villa, racing to Helen’s room to warn Ceres—only to hear shouting already inside, too late.
