Chapter 10: Sign Language
Overview
Alexis reveals she knows sign language, triggering Achilles’s fury and exposing how Patro’s treatment made her feel suicidal. As tensions boil, two winged Titans ambush the group near the Colosseum. Despite heavy gunfire, a Titan smashes Patro into a wall, and Achilles prioritizes rescuing him while the Titans pursue Alexis.
Summary
Alexis, signing in anger, admits she has known sign language since childhood. Achilles reacts with rage and hurt, while Patro grabs and berates Alexis until she tells him his treatment made her want to die. Stunned, the Crimson Duo fall silent as Alexis walks away, refusing further intimidation.
In a ruined Roman district, passersby recognize Achilles and Patro, but the trio’s tension deepens. After wandering the quiet city, Alexis senses movement. Two grotesque, winged Titans drop from a rooftop, their stitched, infected wings and corpse-like features fixating on her as fog thickens.
Achilles and Patro open sustained gunfire, momentarily flinging the Titans back. The monsters rapidly expel bullets and heal, then one Titan launches, smashing Patro into a wall and leaving him limp and bleeding. With Patro down, both Titans refocus on Alexis while Achilles hesitates, torn between protecting her and aiding Patro.
As the Titans advance, Alexis draws her Spartan guns and runs. Achilles chooses to lift Patro and cover their retreat, but the Titans take flight, pursuing Alexis. Separated and outmatched, Alexis is left alone with the monsters closing in.
