Overview
Rudy refuses to fix the roof before the storm and propositions Casey instead. When Rudy puts his arm around her, Casey uses self-defense to pin him and forces a promise to repair the roof after the storm. The confrontation escalates their conflict and raises fears of retaliation.
Summary
Rudy arrives but dismisses Casey’s urgent concerns about the failing roof and the dangerous tree, insisting the cabin will be fine through the imminent storm. He deflects responsibility by suggesting drinks next week and leers at Casey, signaling he has no intention of fixing anything now.
When Casey refuses his advances and an invitation to stay at his house, Rudy persists and questions her preparedness. He then slings his arm around her, crossing a boundary. Remembering her father’s self-defense lessons, Casey reverses his hold, wrenches his arm behind his back, and forces him to the ground.
While pinning Rudy, Casey demands he never touch her again and that he fix the roof right after the storm. Under pain and pressure, Rudy agrees. Casey releases him as rain begins, prioritizing future repairs over injuring him further.
Rudy regains his feet, hurls an insult, and grudgingly promises to return after the storm, adding a pointed remark about her surviving it. Casey reads this as either a threat or grim observation and, anticipating possible retaliation, reassures herself that she has a gun.
