Crasedes returns to Ofelia Dandolo’s estate ballroom, where a skeletal, heat-shrouded lexicon awaits with Tribuno’s definition installed. He addresses Clef’s silence, hinting at their past bond, then confronts Valeria, now confined to a shabby Foundryside lexicon and made unwelcome by his campo-wide controls.

A palpable pulse passes through Tevanne; daylight buckles into sudden night over swathes of the city, unsettling citizens and Ofelia alike, while Gregor remains unresponsive under compulsion.

Moving through the Commons, Berenice observes the sky’s patchwork darkness and deduces Crasedes is stacking Tribuno’s authorities across twinned foundries to rewrite reality, including time.
