Overview
Back at the manor, Becky uncovers a forged note in Evie’s things, confirming someone has been impersonating the boss. Chaos erupts as the male guvre breaks free. When the guvre mists Lyssa, she glows with starlight and calms him. The guvre departs with Lyssa, and Becky goes with them, shifting Becky’s path and revealing Lyssa’s significance.
Summary
At the manor, Becky, anxious about Bladen Gushiken’s condition, pretends composure while Lyssa teases out Becky’s worry. Becky asks for Evie’s journal to search for “starlight,” but instead finds a months-old “urgent meeting” note allegedly from the boss. Recognizing the handwriting is wrong, Becky concludes it is a forgery and asks Lyssa for any undelivered notes to compare.
Their investigation is interrupted by alarm in the courtyard. Fluffy thrashes and keens as the male guvre below the grate rages. Storm clouds gather, the grate shudders, and the male guvre breaks free, advancing rather than fleeing. Guards move in with weapons as Becky shields Lyssa.
Lyssa runs to stop the attack, but the guvre exhales purple mist directly over her. Becky expects the mist to be fatal, only to see it clear and reveal Lyssa unharmed and glowing silvery-white, like starlight. The guvre calms, nuzzles Lyssa, and lowers a wing, inviting her to ride.
Becky tries to prevent Lyssa from leaving but climbs aboard to protect her. With weapons lowering around them, the guvre launches into the cloudy sky, carrying Lyssa and Becky away from the manor, leaving the note’s forgery as a fresh clue to an internal impersonator and revealing Lyssa’s extraordinary connection to starlight and the guvre.
