Overview
On Captain Jones’s ship, tensions spike when Trystan admits he locked Evie away, prompting Clare to panic-spray ink into his eyes before Tatianna heals him. A sudden cannonball tears through the deck near Evie. As pirates close in and another shot lands, the crew braces for battle and shifting loyalties harden under pressure.
Summary
Trystan charges across the deck with Kingsley, announcing he has locked Evie in the barracks. Confronting Clare and Tatianna, Trystan’s intensity alarms them. Clare, acting on instinct to protect Tatianna, sprays her green ink into Trystan’s eyes, painfully blinding him until Tatianna calms the situation and heals the swelling.
Trystan masks his hurt, insists he was exaggerating about Clare hating him, and asks Captain Jones for a private word. Clare regrets hurting him, and Kingsley notes the mutual sting. As the ship sails on, Kingsley reflects on his draining curse while Tatianna gently helps Clare pin up her hair, a small moment of easing tension.
Without warning, a cannonball smashes through the deck into the midship rooms. Trystan rushes to the hole, fears spiking until he spots Evie below, annoyed but largely unharmed. Evie’s fearless quips unsettle Trystan, who admits her lack of fear scares him.
The crew’s alarm escalates when the lookout shouts “Pirates!” Another cannonball follows, confirming the imminent threat. With shots incoming and Evie exposed beneath the torn deck, the crew faces an immediate fight as relationships strain and priorities sharpen.
