Summary
In the dark basement corridors, Arthur spots the group and hustles them from hiding. As they move through ornate halls, Arthur explains the main dungeon entrance is warded and will require Winnifred’s wand. Knights’ armor clatters nearby, raising urgency.
When Kingsley slips from Clare’s grasp, Evie dives and crashes into a fountain, surfacing bleeding as the group scrambles to stay quiet. Trystan checks on Evie, betraying concern, while Arthur insists they cannot let Kingsley wander. The chase continues through courtyards and corridors.
Evie and Trystan’s charged rapport flares: Trystan’s magic circles Evie protectively, he lifts her skirt hem to keep it dry, and she counters his apologies with open encouragement. Arthur signals pauses to avoid patrols as they trail Kingsley deeper into the palace toward the dungeons.
With guards close and the ward ahead, the team steels itself. Kingsley turns back to them, golden eyes wide, and Evie senses certainty: they will leave this castle with a prince.
