Chapter 27
Overview
Ace returns to the motel, bristling with possessiveness toward Romeo while warning him off Keres. Romeo claims the bed and later has intense, consensual sex with Keres. Afterward, Keres reasserts emotional distance, framing their connection as no-strings. The triangle’s tensions and control dynamics sharpen without resolving their mission.
Summary
Romeo waits in the motel, aroused and frustrated after earlier roadside intimacy. Ace returns, asking after Keres and claiming the sofa. Romeo needles Ace about losing control with Keres, sparking a possessive confrontation where Ace grips Romeo’s throat and forbids him to “share,” which Romeo pointedly rejects.
Romeo enters the bedroom to sleep, undressing despite Keres’s protests. They banter about boundaries and somnophilia, with Romeo revealing Ace’s proclivity and teasing Keres about her own interest. Both agree he won’t touch her without explicit consent.
As they drift, Keres unconsciously clings to Romeo, aroused. Romeo wakes her, admits he nearly lost control, and asks direct consent. Keres, unexpectedly open, indicates she would want it. Romeo initiates rough, consensual sex marked by pain-play, dominance, and mutual escalation, culminating in shared release.
After cleaning up, Romeo reaches for closeness, but Keres abruptly withdraws, stating she wants sex without cuddling, strings, or emotion. Romeo is left silent, recognizing how swiftly she rebuilds her emotional armor, while the unresolved tension with Ace lingers.
