Chapter 54

Overview

Keres wakes to Ace and Romeo having sex, joins, and then struggles with sudden jealousy. Ace invites honest conversation, reassures Keres she is needed, and frames their relationship around open communication. They negotiate consent about sex during sleep, mindful of Keres’s trauma. The chapter closes with mutual declarations of love.

Summary

Keres wakes to find Ace having sex with Romeo. Aroused and feeling a pang of jealousy, Keres signals she wants in, and Ace brings her to orgasm while finishing with Romeo. Afterward, Ace settles them together, with Keres between him and Romeo, and Romeo quickly drifts back to sleep.

Noticing Keres’s unease, Ace prompts her to talk. Keres admits she felt jealous hearing Ace say he needed Romeo and confesses she wants to be what Ace needs too. Ace reassures Keres that both she and Romeo are what he needs, and frames her turbulent feelings as the result of finally letting herself be loved. He asks for ongoing honesty as the foundation for their triad.

They then discuss boundaries: Ace won’t have sex with Keres while she sleeps without prior agreement, given her history and potential triggers. Keres asserts she would be comfortable if it’s Ace, even offering blanket consent; Ace remains cautiously open. The scene ends with playful warmth and both Ace and Keres exchanging “I love you” before going back to sleep.
