Overview

Juliette discovers that Adam secretly saved her notebook and left a message suggesting Warner’s situation is not what Juliette believes. The discovery gives Juliette hope that Adam may be trying to help Juliette despite the danger.

Warner then arrives, notices Juliette’s concern for Adam, and reveals a sudden vulnerability when Juliette mentions Warner’s mother. Warner leads Juliette to an unknown destination, framing it ominously as Juliette’s future.

Summary

Juliette returns to her room and immediately reaches for the purple dress Adam told her to wear, then remembers the cameras watching her. As Juliette handles the dress, Juliette worries that Adam may have been punished not only for disobedience but also for warning Juliette about the surveillance.

While hidden by the armoire doors, Juliette discovers her old notebook tucked with the dress. Juliette realizes Adam saved the only possession Juliette still has and uses the dress to carry it into the bathroom, the one place without cameras. There, Juliette finds a sentence in Adam’s handwriting at the bottom of the latest entry: It’s not what you think.

The message makes Juliette hope Adam is secretly trying to reach out, and Juliette tears out the page and hides the notebook in the dress pocket. The pocket explains why Adam wanted Juliette to wear that specific dress, and the discovery turns the dress from another form of control into a possible channel of communication.

Warner enters without knocking while Juliette is getting ready. Juliette accuses Warner of hurting Adam, and Warner notices Juliette’s concern. Warner refuses to answer Juliette’s questions about where Adam or everyone else is, then pulls Juliette toward the elevator while commenting on the dress.

When Juliette makes a cutting remark about Warner’s mother, Warner reacts with sudden alarm and vulnerability, demanding to know what Juliette means. Juliette realizes Juliette has accidentally touched on something hidden and important. Warner shuts down, leads Juliette down unfamiliar corridors, and finally tells Juliette, “Welcome to your future.”
