Near midnight in the crypt, Leto confronts Moneo for sending Siona and Duncan to Tuono without consultation. Leto is amused but warns Moneo to have faith in himself, challenging Moneo’s dependence on judgment and reason. Their exchange turns philosophical as Leto presses Moneo to see the broader continuum and the Golden Path.

Turning to the impending wedding, Moneo reports Hwi’s involvement in preparations and her critique of his focus on activity over quality. Leto notes growing unrest among the Fish Speakers over his marriage, explaining that after he called them his brides, they resent a perceived outsider who knows Siaynoq better than they do. He insists Hwi understands what others refuse to see.

Leto declares that civilizations collapse when power outruns religion and credits Hwi with perceiving this balance. He urges Moneo to uncover his inner certainty, then softens, recognizing Moneo’s fatigue and anxiety.

Finally, Leto orders a ceremonial change: they will not use Ghanima’s water rings but Chani’s, taken from her tomb in the earliest Atreides niches. Speaking briefly in Chani’s voice, he asserts his right to them. Leto then changes the wedding site from Tabur Village to Tuono Village, binding the ceremony to the place where Siona and Duncan have been sent.
