Summary
THEN: Mabel recalls her mother’s claim that her father could silence a room, now recognizing it as intimidation, not charisma. He arrives unexpectedly, towering in the doorway, and demands to know what is happening after seeing Mabel made over by Daphne.
Her father mocks Mabel in a childish voice, reducing her to near tears.
