Summary
Leaving the Grove, Theo realizes he has lost his cigarettes. Yuri appears, returns the pack, and suggests a drink. Theo accepts, seeing a chance to learn more about Alicia.
In a shabby pub, Yuri boasts that he knows Alicia better than anyone and says her silence means she is not ready for the truth. Theo questions him, testing what that “truth” might be.
Yuri pivots to his past: an unhappy marriage, then an obsessive infatuation with a beautiful neighbor he followed and pestered until she rejected him, which forced him to confront the end of his marriage. He says hard truths take time and courage.
Theo grows uncomfortable with Yuri’s story and checks the time. Yuri mentions he is now engaged to a Hungarian woman who suits him, framing his experience as a lesson in moving on.
As Theo prepares to leave to meet his wife, he reluctantly shares her name—Kathryn (Kathy). Yuri gives pointed advice: go home to Kathy and leave Alicia behind, cautioning Theo to keep his boundaries.
