After and Before
Overview
Pip finalizes her podcast about the Andie Bell case and, with Ravi, lands on the title A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. The chapter then shifts to a media recap detailing the case’s true culprits and motives. Public interest surges, but Pip declares her detective work over, promising only legal updates.
Summary
Pip replays Elliot Ward’s old interview in the dark, searching for a tell in his voice and confronting her own complicity in past lies. Ravi arrives early for their Valentine’s dinner, lightening the mood and steering Pip away from the recording. Pip confirms the six-episode podcast is complete and prepared for release.
They discuss distribution and Pip’s need for an intro, which hinges on a title. Ravi pushes for something attention-grabbing, teasing Pip for lacking pizazz. After brainstorming, Ravi proposes A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Pip resists the wording but their playful back-and-forth cements the choice.
The narrative then shifts to a media-style review summarizing the podcast’s revelations: Elliot Ward authored threats to Pip, murdered Sal Singh, and staged it as suicide after fearing exposure from his relationship with Andie Bell. Elliot later imprisoned Isla Jordan, who resembled Andie, convincing himself and Isla she was Andie.
The recap explains that Becca Bell caused Andie’s death during a confrontation about Rohypnol tied to Max Hastings and the calamity parties. Andie’s fatal asphyxiation followed a head injury; Becca hid the body out of fear and anger. Responsibility is apportioned among Elliot, Max, Jason Bell, Becca, Howard Bowers, and Andie.
Finally, the piece notes the podcast’s chart success and public demand for a second season. Pip publicly declines, citing the toll and danger, but promises to record trial and verdict updates until the story’s conclusion.
