Overview

After Layla instantly recognizes Pip and vanishes from all accounts, Pip, Ravi, and Connor lose their prime lead. Charlie Green then reveals doorbell footage of Jamie breaking into his house at 3:07 a.m. and taking Flora’s watch, matching the one found in Jamie’s room. The theft reframes Jamie’s movements and urgency, and Pip debuts season two, stressing the approaching 72-hour threshold.

Summary

Pip, Ravi, and Connor reel when Layla replies to their anonymous DM by greeting Pip by name and saying, “You’re getting closer :)”. As Pip tries to respond, Layla’s Instagram is deactivated, and her Facebook and Tinder vanish too, severing the strongest lead. They decide to ask teacher Adam Clark about Layla the next day.

As Ravi leaves, neighbor Charlie Green arrives, saying he has information. He explains his motion-activated doorbell camera captured activity the previous Tuesday night and invites them to view the footage.

The night-vision video shows Jamie Reynolds approach the Greens’ house at 3:07 a.m., notice a slightly open office window, raise it, and climb inside. He remains inside for 41 seconds, then exits, closes the window, and runs off. Nothing obvious appears in his hands.

Charlie and Flora believe a single item is missing: Flora’s rose-gold watch with pink strap and metal flowers. Pip recognizes it as the watch she saw in Jamie’s bedroom, confirming Jamie took it. The Greens decline to involve police, but they and Pip puzzle over why Jamie ignored valuables to take only the watch.

Back home, Pip records the first episode of her podcast’s second season. She underscores the escalating stakes as the case passes the 72-hour mark, where outcomes statistically worsen, and concludes that all clues converge on the fabricated identity of Layla Mead.
