Overview
Pip faces schoolwide backlash after an article claims she faked Jamie’s case. She finds a “final warning” note in her locker, mirroring a past threat.
Provoked by Ant and Lauren’s doubts, Pip snaps, shoving Ant and screaming at him as the headteacher arrives, signaling escalating pressure and loss of control.
Summary
At the end of the school day, Pip navigates hostile stares sparked by an article claiming she fabricated Jamie’s disappearance. At her locker, she discovers a folded note reading, “This is your final warning, Pippa. Walk away,” echoing a threat from the previous year. She crushes the note and tries to leave with Cara and Connor.
Online rumors are spreading, and when Ant, Lauren, and Zach join them, Ant questions the convenience of Pip’s evidence: the catfish, the memorial night, and the knife by the farmhouse. His insinuations, echoed by Lauren, undermine Jamie’s disappearance and Pip’s integrity, while Connor is caught in the middle.
Pip’s internal panic builds; she doubts herself under the pressure and the crowd’s judgments. As Mrs Morgan appears at the corridor’s end calling for Pip “urgently,” Ant whispers that it’s over and taunts her to tell the truth. The taunt breaks Pip’s control.
Pip shoves Ant hard into the lockers, pins him by the neck with her forearm, and screams into his face, releasing pent-up fear and fury. The scene ends with Pip consumed by the scream, the conflict now public and explosive, with the headteacher present to witness the fallout.
