Summary
In a bugged anteroom within the priesthood’s compound at night, Gurney Halleck delivers a report to Jessica using covert Atreides hand signals while speaking innocuous cover words aloud. He reveals that many prisoners they seized were Alia’s agents and that interrogations continue.
Halleck adds a disturbing discovery: under deep drugs, some captives spoke of Jacurutu and died as they uttered the name, implying a conditioned heart-stopper. Jessica acknowledges the likelihood and orders Halleck, via signals, to resume contacts with smugglers, reasoning that any hidden Jacurutu would traffic spice through them.
