Overview

The Preacher arrives, and Leto asks to guide him back to Arrakeen to preach once more while Leto meets Farad’n. Summary
At a remote palmyrie on the desert’s edge, Leto surveys the harsh landscape and reflects on his sandtrout-altered body and the loneliness of true freedom. He weighs the temptation to vanish into the desert against his responsibility to correct the corrupt legacy growing among the Fremen.
He recalls the rise of greed after Muad’Dib and Alia, accepts the terrible price of his chosen course, and recognizes the approaching Kralizec if he missteps. Leto resolves to manage vision rather than be trapped by it, anchoring himself to action over indulgent prescience.
The Preacher, guided by a Fremen child, joins Leto. Leto reveals that Farad’n is on Arrakis and asks to guide The Preacher back to Arrakeen to preach again. He warns The Preacher that if he goes, he will not return to the desert. The Preacher hesitates but acknowledges unsaid truths and agrees.
Leto instructs The Preacher to inform Gurney and states Gurney will not accompany them, wishing to preserve Gurney’s life. With tensions high and danger acknowledged, they prepare to depart for Arrakeen, accepting that their move will engage terrifying forces and accelerate the looming crisis.
