Summary
Leto lies in Jacurutu under heavy spice, his memories and prescient vistas surging while Gurney Halleck’s baliset music threads through sietch visions. He recognizes his captors want something beyond vision: a decisive, living commitment that proves his fitness and intent.
Rising from trance, Leto summons Gurney and Namri and reframes their trial as his test. Through riddles and Fremen ritual allusions, he argues against absolutism, asserts the need for diversity, and places a water-burden on Namri, staying the knife.
