Chapter 11

Overview

Asojano, the trapped Orisha haunting the ghommid town, reveals that his presence is the source of the undead madness and gives the group a path forward: repair his shrine in the temple at night. The encounter also exposes Sister Ines’s instability around godlike beings, complicating Carl and Donut’s uneasy alliance with Paz’s team.

After retreating to their personal space, Carl and Donut prepare for the next phase by opening rewards, gaining useful card tools and Donut’s powerful new bard microphone. A visit from Katia’s team reinforces the wider crawler network, brings supplies and card support, and shows how badly other survivors are still carrying losses from the previous floor.

Summary

Asojano, a level-130 Orisha and city boss, enters the saferoom without triggering combat, earning Carl and Donut a Stranger Danger achievement. Asojano’s presence sickens the room with a rotting stench, his health slowly falls while inside, and his diseased aura forces everyone to keep distance. Asojano addresses Paz as a Santero and says the ghommid spirits are plagued by Asojano’s trapped presence.

Asojano explains that Paz must go to the town temple and repair Asojano’s shrine so Asojano can leave. A quest update confirms that Asojano’s presence is the source of the ghommid infection and madness. Anton considers flagging Asojano when the boss’s health drops, but Sister Ines panics at the idea of another false god and begs Anton not to take Asojano. Before anyone acts, Asojano opens the door, steps back outside, recovers health, and tells the group to come that night, when Asojano can better hold the undead back despite the ghommids also becoming stronger.

Back in Carl and Donut’s personal space, Donut rejects the idea of recruiting Asojano because of his smell, and Carl and Donut discuss Sister Ines’s breakdown. Carl argues that Sister Ines may be overwhelmed by religious pressure rather than simply dangerous, though Donut remains suspicious. Mordecai works on anti-undead bombs, while Li Jun’s team obtains supplies from another Desperado Club.

Donut opens reward boxes and receives a useless mace, a powerful consumable snare card called Hobbled, and a platinum fan-box prize: an enchanted headset microphone called The Bard’s Golden Throat. The headset improves bard songs, amplifies Donut’s voice, and increases charisma, making it a useful but potentially obnoxious secret weapon. Carl opens boxes and receives mostly junk, including his own useless mace and a fan-box massage coupon for the Desperado Club’s adult spa, which excites Donut.

Katia, Bautista, and Louis visit from Iceland. Louis appears steadier but emotionally hollow after Firas’s death, explains that Britney is leveling aggressively despite her unhealed face, and says Samantha has been pestering him through chat. Katia checks on Carl, discusses the possibility of Tserendolgor’s party joining the guild, and gives Carl several useful deck cards, including Flee, Stout, Blue Stuff, and Greased Lightning. Zev interrupts to warn Carl, Donut, and Louis that their shows are coming up, and Donut prepares for another public appearance.
