Carl and Donut finish looting the abandoned goblin workshop after Donut’s earlier chaos drew the goblins away. Carl’s inventory gains many new categories as they take coal, tools, engineering supplies, wicks, explosives, alchemical liquids, chopper tires, and even movable tables. Carl also collects nearly a ton of coarse black powder, leaving only the largest items and some dangerous barrels behind.

Carl turns the looted materials into a trap for the goblin war chieftain. He loads four partially emptied black-powder barrels onto a cart, adds metal scraps on top to turn the blast into shrapnel, and avoids sparks from the still-running steam engine. Donut supervises from the chopper sidecar while Carl prepares a more reliable explosive called Hobgoblin Pus with magical detonators.

While Carl and Donut discuss whether Rory and Lorelai will be angry, Carl explains the plan. They will open the boss-room door, shove the explosive cart inside, flee behind several walls, and trigger the blast from a distance. If the chieftain dies, they expect a reward notification; if not, they plan to escape on the chopper and abandon the area.

Carl hides multiple detonator points in the barrels while leaving one obvious piece visible, hoping the chieftain will focus on the wrong threat if he reacts. Carl acknowledges that the tactic is cowardly but considers it safer than entering and being locked in the boss room.

Donut opens the boss-room door, confirms the path is clear, and Carl slams into the cart, sending it rolling inside before the door closes. Carl and Donut run to a prearranged spot behind several turns. Donut reports seeing a huge ugly goblin sitting and reading a book, and Carl presses the detonator. In the final instant before the blast, Donut adds that there were many babies in the room.
